Belts are a fun accessory, and if you love wearing them, they can change the “mood” of an outfit fast. You can start your business day wearing a classic belt for work and then switch to a western belt for a casual evening event. Right now, snake-skin is in. You can find belts in many colors and widths, shiny and in other textures as well.
If your favorite belt doesn’t fit the loops on your dress pants, here’s a simple solution: wear an oversized blouse and don’t tuck it in. Now, wear your favorite belt over the blouse. Chain or beaded belts work well with this style. To dress it up, add a big scarf, a vest, or some gold or silver jewelry. Or, simply remove the belt loops and wear a belt that hangs over your slacks/jeans in a v-shape. This creates a waist slimming effect.
Wearing a belt inside an open jacket or shirt is also a fabulous way to give you a point of definition and show what might be an illusion – a waistline. Short-waisted or larger busted women who wear their belts slightly lower enjoy the appearance of improved proportions.
Another belt idea: wear your favorite big scarf as your belt. You can twist it rope-style and tie it in back or wear it scarf-style off one hip. With scarves, you always have options.
