Dressing for Function: These are the days when you have a physical schedule, taking care of children, or running errands, and you need to dressing for function – this means dressing from the floor up.
Dressing for Fashion: If you want to look good – meeting friends for lunch, going to a party, or a class reunion) you work from the top down. Two-thirds of the time, people focus on the upper one-third of your body. Make sure your hair looks good, makeup is in place, and that you are wearing a shirt color that is flattering. Your signature color is always an excellent choice.
Dressing for passion is dressing from the inside out – wearing what you love and makes YOU feel good – anything that excites your senses: sight, sound, scent and touch – is what you’ll want to reach for to have a ‘feel good’ day.
Dressing for reaction means that you need your clothing to work FOR you, therefore you are going to dress from the outside in. If you are counseling with someone and want them to feel at ease try using soft color combinations (blue & tan, pink & lavender), or maybe you have a job interview or need to look authoritative in an effort to confront someone – the stronger the contrast, the more authoritative, (ie: black and White) Straighter and stiffer lines and designs will also add to this effect.
Go ahead – dress for your circumstances. Doing this creates confidence and a more beautiful you – simply.
