Fit Issues with Fall/Winter Fashions – Part II Body Fit Issues
Fit Challenge:
“I have a waist but I also have fuller hips. I have a hard time finding something that shows off my waist while minimizing attention at my hips.”
Fit Solution:
Option 1: If skinny pants made you feel over-exposed you’re going to rejoice at the full skirts fall brings! For women with fuller hips and thighs and a narrow waist, this silhouette is great—it celebrates curves and gives you an enviable figure.
Option 2: You can still play with the skinny jean/legging look if you pair it with boots and wear a longer coat or sweater (Not too bulky) over it – and belt it! Showcase the waist and keep the colors on the bottom half in darker more monochromatic (similar) tones.
If you like the look of this cardigan, you can purchase it HERE.
Fit Challenge:
“My figure is more tomboyish but I really want to show my femininity. How do I do that with a boyish shape?”
Fit Solution:
You’ll feel more feminine if you wear one of this season’s dresses.
Option 1: Tent dresses are chic and a great shape for straight up and down bodies. Look for them in prints or strong solid colors. There’s lots of variety! (*note: I would also belt this look to give the illusion of curves above & below the belt)
Option 2: Flapper revival dresses are a gorgeous choice for evening for this body type as well.
Fit Challenge:
“I see that belts are all the rage – but with my muffin top, the last thing I want to do is belt it!”
Fit Solution:
Don’t run from this fad, instead run TO it!
Option 1: The bigger the belt the better. A couple of years ago in one of my Got A Minute – Get Some Style Newsletters, I showed the difference a belt made depending on the size, buckle included. A strategically placed buckle can be a wonderful “pouch” concealer and can make a woman look 10 pounds thinner! (see picture)
Option 2: Wear the belt under an open jacket or cardigan. By doing this, no one will notice the width of your waist, just the optical illusion that you have one!
You can wear the fall fads this year – beautifully and simply!
