On more than one occasion, I’ve been asked,
“Why not pleated pants? I heard they hide your tummy.”
Perhaps to some extent, but the overall silhouette tends to balloon making that area appear fuller and here is the game changer: people notice overall shape before they notice details! In other words, at a glance someone wearing pleats looks about 10 pounds thicker in that area than they would if they simply chose slacks or skirt that SKIM the danger zone. For example: these “match-stick” pants by Reiss (www.reiss.com ) look much slimmer overall than the offending slim leg pleated slack:
Remember the number two rule of style – clothing should SKIM your body.
What’s number one? If it doesn’t fit – it isn’t it!
